  A woman accidently sold a ceramic frog w/ the ashes of her husband's first wife inside. Yikes!
  
  It's funny, 'cuz it's not my relatvie. :-)
  
  What do you think of cremation vs burial.
  
  The Catholic Church says that if you are cremated, the ashes have to be buried in a Catholic cemetary. I'm beginning to understand their thinking. How many people's remains have been lost to some crazy mistake like the yard sale blunder. How many people's ashes end up in a landfill when someone throws an ugly object away, not remembering that it contains Uncle Harry's remains?
  
  What do you think? Is burial important. Does it matter to you if someone's ashes end up in the garbage? (I'm guessing that the person who bought the ceramic frog was used as an ash tray and threw the ashes in the garbage. I know that's what I would have thought and done."
  
  What about you? Do you plan to be buried? Cremated?

  If one doesn't believe that Mary is the mother of God, what does he make of Elizabeth's saying, "And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?"
  
  In the NT, "Lord" is used to refer to God only.
  
  If someone doesn't accept the Mary is the mother of God, isn't he denying the true incarnation?! Or maybe he's saying that Jesus is 2 persons--one human, one God--which is an ancient heresy, Nestorianism. It denies the Trinity as most people beleive in it--one God in 3 persons, God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus isn't two persons.
  
  If the Bible says that Mary is the mother of God (In Elizabeth's words above), then why isn't it accepted?
  
  How is "Lord" interpreted in that instance? Are they thinking that before birth (while in the womb) Jesus was Lord (God), but once born, he was merely human? But the Bible says that the savior will be born of a woman. Isn't the savior God? It didn't say that part of the savior would be born. I'm sorry to keep bringing this point up, but the "Mary isn't mother of God" thinking just doesn't make sense, logically or biblically, to me.

  Catholics genuflect (go down on one knee) before entering the pew in a Catholic Church. Everyone knows that, but do they know why we do it?
  
  We walk in, look at the altar, genuflect and make the sign of the cross. Many people who aren't familiar with Catholic beliefs think of this as idol worship, I think.
  
  But that's what I think. I know they don't like it, and I think that's why. Can you fill me in on this? Is that the basis of it? That we are bowing to a statue on the Altar?
  
  We're actually genuflecting because God is present in the Eucharist in the tabernacle, which we know because the candle is lit. If the candle weren't lit, we would know that the Eucharist wasn't in the tabernacle (the little box, usually against the back wall behind the altar, usually it's gold).
  
  Do others think we're genuflecting to the statue hanging on the cross?

  Two priests died at the same time and met St. Peter at the Pearly Gates. St. Peter said, I'ld like to get you gentlemen in now, but our computer is down. You'll have to go back to Earth for a few days, but you can't go back as priests. So, what else would you like to be ?
  
  The first priest says, " I've always wanted to be an eagle, soaring above the Rocky Mountains." "So be it," says St. Peter, and off flies the first priest.
  
  The second priest mulls this over for a moment and asks, "will what I choose 'count'?" "No", answers St. Peter, I told you the computers down. There's no way we can keep track of what you are doing. " In that case," says the second priest, " I've always wanted to be a stud."
  " So be it," says St. Peter, and the second priest disappears.
  
  A few days go by, the computer is fixed, and the Lord tells St. Peter, to recall the two priests. " Will you have any trouble locating them?" He asks. " The first one should be easy," says St. Peter. " He's somewhere over the Rockies, flying with the eagles. But, the second one could prove to be more difficult." " Why ?" asks the Lord.
  He is on a snow tire, somewhere in North Dakota.
