• 12-1) Why does she take the chance? Because she's Pamela the risk-taker. And because she'll do anything to keep Casey safe. She's also got some dirt on Emma, which gives her a bit of leverage. Pamela's no dummy. I think she was banking on Emma having the same loathing toward Love as Pamela does, and that she'd enjoy nothing more than to pin something big on Haggerty. • (12-2) Pillow talk reveals an awful lot. This is Haggerty's fatal flaw - he thinks he's a big enough threat that he can say almost anything to Emma and feel confident that she's too scared to share it with anyone. He doesn't seem to realize that some people aren't so afraid of death, that maybe death is better than the life they're living now. Emma cooperates because she's living with regret, and because she knows she's on the way out now that Haggerty has Pamela. There's nothing much to lose at this stage, she's damaged goods. • 13-1) I find it hard to believe that Jamie didn't know about Pamela and Haggerty. It was he, imho, who put the bug in Lucas' ear about Pamela being in Boston, and I think it was deliberate - Jamie wanted Pamela to see the evidence of mob violence, as shown through Lucas' lens. Maybe Jamie was just guessing about her relationship with Haggerty. It's also very possible he had connections in Boston that Pamela knew nothing about, but I feel certain the photography job was purposely set-up by Mr. Kirkpatrick. (13-2) Ryan knows Pamela is smart. I think he suspects that Pamela's involvement is more than just a physical liaison. He may have known by now of her visit to Emma. He was pointing out to her, in his none-too-subtle way, the dangers inherent in asking too many questions, in trying to get too close to the business side of Haggerty's life. • Chapter 12. Q1. Pamela also knows that Love is a bastard and that Casey is not and is probably thinking that Emma might help her out in order to help Casey. I think she's also desperate to end the whole bloody mess and is willing to try anything to get the info she needs on Love. 2) I think we all come to the point where we can't take anymore -- whatever "it" may be -- and I think Emma has reached that point. • Chapter 14) Q. 2. Olie surprised me, too, as did Hallbjorn. How far Love can reach is demonstrated here, and to me further justifies Pamela taking such a drastic course as to sleep with Love in order to get rid of him. There literally would be nowhere safe for them to run in the world, never mind America or Ireland if Love was free. Q2. Working on a fishing boat is dangerous at the best of times, so I think Casey would have brushed any accidents or near-misses off as part of the job. Also, he was so miserable and worried about Pamela, that he probably wasn't as observant as he would normally be.     • Casey really was truly out of his element on this side of the pond, as well as literally while he was on the pond. That's enough to take the edge of even the best of men, such as Casey. • 14.1- Yes the dream is significant to what is about to happen, because Deirdre is waking him up- it's about waking up to what's happening more than the physical waking. 14.3 It's what Carla said, unless he was totally aware that the acts seemed deliberate, he'd chalk it up to the dangers of fishing. It's considered one of the most dangerous occupations in the world. 14.4- Yes, I've seen the Northern Lights. They take your breath away every time.
