Found another article:

https://www.beaumont.org/conditions/voiding-problems-children

This article is published on the website for a chain of clinics in Michigan, USA, but it seems to lend more credence to the concern over children's urinary issues.
It starts out:

VOIDING PROBLEMS ARE VERY COMMON IN CHILDREN (caps added). Also called dysfunctional voiding or difficulties with urination, voiding problems can range from mild to severe. Severe dysfunctional voiding can cause kidney damage.

Types of voiding dysfunction

Voiding problems range from mild problems like frequency of urination or burning during urination to more severe problems like daytime and nighttime urinary leakage.

The article goes on from there, and is free to read.
