In reply to: Or are we still in the dark days where we deny diminish and dismiss kids feelings? 's message, "Do teachers / parents have more understanding of kids crying e pressing emotion and disappointment at results?" on 5/11/24 13:39:10, Tue

1) Kids should 100% not be made to feel they should hide their emotions although I have been guilty of telling my own child to "just keep smiling". However it's an awareness moment for me that sometimes I am caring more about what other people might think than validating my own child feelings. I should try to do better in future!

2) From what I've seen this week there are a lot of sociopaths involved in this sport who don't have empathy or morals therefore kids feelings don't impact them.

3) The multiple posts in the immediate aftermath of results this week to accuse a crying child of bad sportsmanship was solely meant to deflect attention away from the real scandal (and possibly to also kick people when they were already down).

The language used (same incorrect use of verbs/grammar) tells me most of these posts came from the same person. The crying did not make them feel uncomfortable - see point 2 again.

4) The judges who engage in cheating also fall under point 2 so seeing a child crying at an awards ceremony would probably have little affect on them.
