Max flung his arms out in front of him to break his fall, and rolled over onto his back. Ok, well, uh, damn. That certainly hadn't gone as hoped. As he picked himself up off the floor he caught a brief glimpse of Midori's hip holster before the man moved in front of it. Oh. He'd quite forgotten about that. Apparently so had Midori. Should be useful right now. he thought angrily. How on earth either of them were supposed to reach it was another matter, though. Obviously Midori had her hands full and, well, Max couldn't exactly just stroll up to them and take it with a brief "sorry to bother you, don't mind me". Anyway, it wouldn't be very smart of Max to... "use" the gun himself. He was guessing that an unemployed immigrant was more likely to get into some sort of trouble for shooting a civilian than a female FBI agent. All he could really think of doing was to somehow get the man away from Midori long enough in order to give her time to reach her gun. How exactly he was going to go about doing so was another story.

The man continued keeping Midori pinned to the spot and tightened his grip on her wrists before slamming them against the wall. Inwardly he was grateful his mate at taken a hit for him. He didn't need any nuisances at the moment. Still keeping his enormous body pressed close to hers, his hand slid around her waist to her back and hastily crept up underneath her shirt, his fingers fumbling to unclip her bra. He wanted to make her suffer, to humiliate her. Did she really think she was going to get her way around here?

Max had to think fast, which wasn't really something one would recommend for him. He tended to act on impulse, so naturally his first reaction was to have a go at the man. Now that he'd already made the blunder he reckoned he should've tried verbally confronting him first. "Hey, I suggest you leave the lady alone" or something like that instead of just going at the man like a spider monkey with rabies. But back to the present... what was he supposed to do? Run at him again? Some other guy would probably just leap in front of him again. Walk up to him like a civilized human being? Hell, it was worth a try. If that didn't work either then he'd just move on to Plan C, whatever that was.

Max made his way up to the man, worming his way sideways so that he was standing somewhat between him and Midori. "Hey back off, man." he growled, shoving his hands at the man's chest as hard as he could, feeling the hair at the back of his neck standing on end. Alright, so it wasn't exactly one of those smooth super-cool lines you'd find in a Bond movie, but unfortunately he had no time to rehearse or think of something better. He wanted to get his message across, though- mess with Midori (or anyone else he knew, for that matter) and you'd have to deal with him first.
