Hi Danika

Sorry it's been a long time since we last spoke in the summer, had some personal issues with losing my parents and everything that goes with that so I'm here just mostly playing catch up.

So I hope all is well with you and your family, on reading posts I have just seen that your youngest has finally reached the age to start smoking, I hope all is going well and addiction is taking its toll and he is starting to enjoy his new smoking habit.

And I feel for you in regards to the taxes. Personally I don't drink however the cost of living and the cost of choices for personal use in regards to drinking and smoking is just crazy. It's like they all want us all to sit on the naughty step and also pay a fortune for sitting there.

Our joke of a Prime Minister who may only have 12 months max in office has recently announced his new plans to introduce a smoking ban similar to New Zealands if I have that right. He wants to bring into law a situation that at present if it becomes law that 14 year olds as from today will not be allowed to smoke and that age will rise. Otherwise known as slowly bringing in a non smoking nation years into the future.

Now like yourself I as you may remember also have a young smoking family with my son and daughter already smoking and my 3 year old will hopefully in around 18 months take up the habit.

My 2 younger smokers are already smoking a pack a day on the school days and up to but not over 2 packs a day at the weekends. Plus they have both got many smoking friends from school so what our government are trying to do is basically take away their rights to smoke.

As always we all smoke for various reasons, the love of it, the need of it and the addiction of it.

Yes it's illegal to purchase until the age of 18 however its not illegal smoke under that age regardless of age.

But what can we do. My eldest son and daughter are both under 11 let alone 14.

All I can hope is that this law doesn't reach your country.
