So, this started only about 13 years ago, and ended only 11 years ago? Really??
Until you said your age, I was guessing that you were probably close to my age (54) or older. In your 40s, at least. When I was a kid, getting a shot in the bum was a not-uncommon component of a medical visit -- every kid was familiar with the experience. (I understood from my mother that, when she was a child, it was almost inevitable: Seeing the doctor was a pretty sure sign that you would be rolling over on your tummy, for a painful injection.)
When I was a middle-school teacher (late '90s - early '00s), I realized that most of my students were not familiar with getting shots in the bottom, and some were surprised to hear that the practice had once been the norm. My eldest son is a year older than you, and, to my recollection, all the intramuscular injections he ever received were his thigh when he was a baby, and in his shoulder in later years.
Assuming your account is true, did you have an uncommon medical condition that necessitated getting all these shots in your bottom -- or do you think your doctor just was just sticking (no pun intended) to an older way of doing things? Was the doctor elderly? And was your mother aware that what your pediatrician was doing was highly unusual?
