Unfortunately it didn't come with a build manual. So it looks like the original builder backed up the fitting with a nut as you described. Unfortunately due to a little play it started fretting and possibly may need re-bushing. The only other major issue I had was with the throttle cable bell crank assembly. The pivot of the bell crank was just glued into the edge of the fibre glass cross member and fell out during a test flight leaving no control of the engine. Fortunately it settled at cruise rpm for the Jabiru and I was at 1500 ft. So it was a case of turning engine off to land. That was quite amusing with a 90 deg X wind as well. Luckily it didn't occur during take off. Anyway my inspector who is also qualified GA Yak engineer would rather see this contraption replaced than repaired using a longer throttle cable and using an extended throttle linkage adapter on the bing carb to give the correct movement which I totally agree with. I'm using a recommend cable linkage adapter that sky-craft supply for the jabiru aircraft. However with this Jabiru engine installation it's not easy to install with such limited space. Once it's fitted it should a far neater and more reliable installation. Apart from these issues the rest of the aircraft is fine and performs really well. The problem being since the throttle cable incident my wife has lost confidence in any home built aircraft and will not fly in it again. So sadly will be up for sale once all the issues are resolved and it's got a new permit. Probably in the region of £15k with a nearly new engine with only 55 hours I still have my Cassutt racer, which I intended to sell after buying the Pulsar which was another aircraft which i had to spend a lot of money sorting the engine out. I'm not having much luck buying aircraft lately ! However since the Cassutt has been it's sorted I get a lot of fun out it and being small it's cheap to hangar. It's a real shame being forced to sell the Pulsar, it's a very attractive efficient design and every time I look at it I would like to keep it. But there is little point owning a two seat aircraft with the added expense if I you don't have a passenger to share the fun. I work most weekends and the reality of the situation is that I get so little free time to fly let alone having to spend valuable free time sorting out poorly executed engineering issues that should have been picked up and resolved during the annual permit. Oh - the joys home built aircraft its all part of fun of aircraft ownership!! Many thanks Kelvin Cheers. kelvin [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
