Even when they moved the pageant back to Atlantic City in 2013 it did not have the same nostalgia or atmosphere as it did in the past. I was recently in Atlantic City, and felt like it should bulldozed and start over again. The place is a dump and gets worse every time I go back. There is still the boardwalk and the show us your shoes parade will never be as much fun as it was in Atlantic City. 100,000 people came out for that event. They sold hundreds of program books, every hotel was sold out. Boardwalk hall offered a television ready venue and a magnificent runway (NT) -- Hotels put the girls and the chaperones up and fed them. (NT) -- Lee, 13:17:36 10/28/24 Mon (c-73-191-114-245.hsd1.de.comcast.net/73.191.114.245) I was in AC this past weekend for a funeral and spoke to a local owner of a boating tourism company and he went into details about how the pageant didn't deliver the revenues promised by the MAO and the organization didn't want to pony up ANYTHING for security services and everything else it takes to house contestants, judges, staff., etc. in several different hotels, transport them, etc. The city was losing money on the deal, so it no longer served them to host.
