Not one person said pageants are the most important thing. I said I would love to see her give it one more try. She's 24, FFS. It's a fine age to get married, but it also is a younger age. It's not like we're saying she should be competing at age 35 (NT) No name

I am happy when young women see their futures more brightly as they age; some think their futures are better if they move on, rather then stay in a hamster wheel for another year. Given a choice between a husband and potential forever happiness, and a crown, I'd take the husband every time. (NT) No name

That's a false dichotomy. No one is saying girls have to choose between a husband and a crown. She's 24. If she'd rather get married, FANTASTIC! I'm very happy for her and say go for it! But I don't think girls should ever have to choose between a husband and a crown. That "crown", while minimized often in these types of discussions, can be a stepping stone to amazing careers, especially in a state like TX where being Miss TX actually means something to people. Many men recognize that and wait for their young woman. Nothing wrong with that. Live and let live.
