Subject: Does anyone think that the changes to Miss America will impact MVA?

] Date Posted: Thu January 26, 2023 22:36:03 The changes made them nearly identical and Volunteer is only in their second year. Plus a lot of Volunteer girls are ones that aged out of America. America definitely has greater name recognition. There are a lot of pageants out there but most weren’t trying to be Miss America pre 2.0 [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
[> Subject: MAO is still so unstable. Volunteer has a strong structure in place to grow. Plus Allison is the leader I trust.

[> Subject: Miss Volunteer America is in trouble. MAO and MVA are essentially the same competition. It's easier to get a contestant to wear fitness wear over a swimsuit. With the age increase, you no longer have women jumping over that were aging out.

[> [> Subject: MAO bringing back fitness & increasing age doesn't mean Volunteer's in trouble! The difference between the two programs is Volunteer produces a fantastic pageant, gives the girls a great competition week experience, pays winnings in cash the night they win, and is consistent in what they want in a titleholder and how they pick her. Directors and contestants know what to expect. Everything for the MAO is up in the air- the competitions, scoring, rules, format, scholarships, location- everything.

[> [> Subject: I don’t want “easy” to get contestants, I want the best of the best. If it’s “easier” to wear fitness wear, fine — but I want to see women who work hard and are proud to showcase it.

[> Subject: The relationship with Paige and Joann's isn't helping MVA. Paige makes the contestants think if they don't buy an expensive gown from her they won't win. It's bullying behavior. No one should have to spend $10,000 on a Sherri Hill gown or be told they won't win if they don't get it. I also don't like the fact there are contestants working at the store seeing the custom design orders of their competition. It isn't right at all.

[> [> Subject: I'm sorry, I don't believe any owner literally tells a girl she has to buy a $10,000 dress or she won't win. They may say a 'state level gown' can run $10k. Saying they work with/ sponsor all the major pageant systems is basic marketing, not an attempted extortion where if you don't buy a gown from them, you won't win. If a girl can't manage the pressure of gown salesperson, she's not mature enough for the title.
Author: Knowing another girl's dress isn't any real advantage; more likely a psych out knowing she can outspend her [ Edit | View ] |

[> [> [> Subject: Paige / Joann’s is helping destroy MVA. It’s true that she BULLIES people into purchasing. It’s not a recommendation it’s a matter of “if you don’t spend more than $10,000 you will lose.” She has been outwardly nasty towards several contestants each year and has insider information on the pageant. There are too many coincidences for it to not be a rigged pageant.

[> [> Subject: The relationship between Christine Williamson and MVA is much more of an issue than Joanns in my opinion. Her bad mouthing the MAO 5 years after she competed while trying to build up MVA is such a red flag

[> [> [> Subject: I don't think Christine's comments have been an issue at all. She is making whoever competing aware that the leadership in certain states and at the MAO national level is toxic. This seems to be the trend with the original 4 states that had licenses revoked installing toxic abusive leaders in TN, GA, WV and PA along with CO & OH. Mental health is important.

[> [> [> [> Subject: If the new leadership of MAO doesn’t replace the entire Ohio board then Ohio will soon be back to where Volunteer is now with no locals and candidates only buying in. Volunteer is just starting out so it’s understandable but the overwhelming corruption of the Miss Ohio America program has caused probably half the locals, many sponsors and many eligible former contestants to leave because of the toxicity of the board, the volunteers and some of the veteran contestants.

Author: Reuben harness is that you?? [ Edit | View ] |
Date Posted: Tue August 01, 2023 00:44:21 Christine endured so much during her year and to say she is “bad mouthing” MAO shows how incredibly little you know. Reuben, if this is you, go elsewhere; you aren’t wanted here; we’ve all seen your comments on her social media harassing her where she politely blocked you after a grown man left incredible rude comments on a young woman’s social accounts, which could be considered predatory given the age gap and how much older you ar. MAO targeted that girl…. She’s speaking her truth, if you have a problem with the truth, YOU are the problem! She’s done NOTHING to warrant such disgusting comments. Have you ever spoken to her? Do you know her story? I highly doubt that you do, from my understanding, she wants MVA to be everything MAO was and so much more. Applause to her! [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
[> [> [> Subject: Hey! Reuben here. First, thank you for spelling my name correctly. 2nd if you think my comments were harassing please look up the definition. My comments to her were that her constant bashing of MAO were tacky when she was trying to build up another system. Please if you would like to discuss further, I think you have my number. THANKS!

[> Subject: Both systems are unstable because the general public doesn’t care about pageants and no one new will because they are only on PP. Neither are recruiting enough girls and splitting them between the two makes it worse. 30 states aren’t even sending someone to Sweetheart and some states had to go way down from their RUs to send someone. Rumor is that Sweetheart might go back to MA after this year. That documentary won’t hurt MA because leadership is different now and no one really watched it.

[> [> Subject: Also as hard as stares try to offset travel cost to Sweetheart these girls do have expenses to compete. Others are in school during this time. Sweetheart was forced off the grid by MAO. It is building itself back up. It’s two years in and growing. Give it time.
