I was a bit of a baby when I got spanked, so I was often bawling by the time mine was done. My own kids, a usual spanking is a dozen or so good swats on their bare butts. I that's enough to make them cry and gets the point across sufficiently. My oldest son at thirteen, doesn't make as much of a show of it as his younger sister and brother, but he is tearful afterward. My younger two at eleven and nine do still cry and rub their butts afterward. Especially my daughter, because she is a bit of a drama queen sometimes. As far as how long I "let" them cry. They cry until they get it out of their system.
