Hello Mark,

Thank you for your reply- lovely to hear from another UK parent, especially a veteran poster! We can regretfully mourn the decline of standards and attitudes in the UK together, shared commiserations. And that sounds extremely similar to our household- with the rationale that a large leather soled slipper covers bottom very efficiently, but also spreads the impact and less likely to cause unintentional bruises. We actually have a boy and a girl, collecting the set (and it is complete as far as I am concerned, no more needed to be added to the collection!) - they are 10 and 11-going-on-12 respectively. And yes, helpfully I am around 5'10 so still comfortably able to put either over my knee when the slipper is drawn from it's resting place and been awakened
