Interesting topic! When I was growing up, my mom had a cousin Michelle that she grew up with and they were close as sisters. Although Michelle was technically my second cousin, I addressed her as Aunt since she was an elder.

I spent a good deal of time at Aunt Michelle's as a boy, she being a primary sitter for me and my younger brother when my parents were out. And like mom, when the occasion called for it, I would be punished with a bare bottom hairbrush spanking and she spanked as hard as my mom.
