Mark,

The attempted escapes do not necessarily have to do with complying or not complying, I think it has to do with at times they are not in control of their bodies and it is a reaction. The escape attempt is something both of my boys have done and Cordelia is right they have no control over when they do and are trying anything to get their bottom away from our brush.

I do the baring and I have to help them get across my lap as they are understandably a little hesitant.

I pin their right hand to their back before I spank and the leg lock won't do anything to help to stop them from blocking with their hand or am I not understanding the question?

I use pre spanking corner time, I think corner time is essential I never used it until coming to Mary's forum many years ago. I use it before to give them time to think about why they are about to be spanked as I sit and enjoy the view of the bottom I am about to spank and they will at times be weepy or crying as Stanley the youngest will and if time permits they have corner time after their spanking and they do not have to have hands on head but they can not rub thier bottom.

Once the boys got old enough to where they didn't need to be spanked on the spot so that they knew why they were being spanked I started unless it is egregious I tell them they will be spanked at bedtime. I bare them from the waist down for their spankings and that is how they go to bed on their stomach wearing just their t-shirt and pj top it is want they want to do.
