Going over the knee is an embarrassing experience for my kids, particularly my oldest, but I’ve only ever heard it come up when spankings are administered privately. In the case of living room spankings all 3 of my kids (my son, my stepdaughter and presently my nephew) are happy to go over my knee as in most cases I do require them to strip naked from the waist down so quickly going over my lap at least limits their exposure in the presence of the other kids. My younger 2 are tweens but prepubescent, although probably not for much longer. In the case of my oldest, I wouldn’t say going over my knee has become more embarrassing since he hit puberty but being spanked bare bottom has gotten even worse for him than it already was, and it already was quite humiliating for him even when just me and him were in the room.

My oldest has requested that he be allowed to keep his undershorts for spankings since he was 11. I agreed when he was 13, after he’d hit puberty, although it came with the condition that he would get the belt instead of my hand. His ready agreement to this was quite telling, and I made it clear that if I felt the punishment fit the crime I would spank his bare bottom in front of the other 2 kids.

This arrangement has been quite rewarding. The very threat of this punishment is enough to get his attention and cooperate with me. He has always been a rather modest boy and since this experience is so humbling for him I have only had to give 3 bare bottom spankings since he turned 13 (he is now 14 soon to be 15). It’s a punishment he avoids almost like the plague.
