((If you know what this means- 'What in the heck- What in the heck, What in the heck', you are free to answer.))

"Ith?" Havinka was perched on the stone wall that encircled each outside weyr. She peered opefully into the wyer she was directly opposite of, and her shoulder's sagged a little as she shook her head. This was a blue- Ith was a glorious green.
How do you misplace something as big as a dragon? she wondered silently to herself, shaking her head then for her stupidity. Well, she could hardly been blamed! She'd run off with Grean to the Feast. After a meatroll the it took two hands to hold, and a mug of klah, Grean had run off. He'd said he would be climbing the stone face of the weyr, so naturally, Havinka being of the mindset that she could do anything Grean did- and do it better.
"Ith?" she called again, taking little steps to reach the next weyr. The next weyr wasn't Ith either, but it was a gorgeous brown dragon as big as a bronze. Her breath caugt in her throat- she loved browns!
Browns were dependable, sturdy, level-headed, resposible, less wild than greens and blues, and likely to be wing- and weyr-seconds. Ocassionally, one would become wing- or- weyrleader, but it wasn't comman. Browns could last an entire Fall without tiring, and their range of flame could easily match that of a bronze's.

"Hiya!" she called in her high, little girl voice. "Who are you?"
She carefully lowered herself to sit on the wall, back to the open sky and facing the gorgeous brown. Her left hand gripping the stone edge- not in a death grip, but so she wouldn't fall into the open space to her death-, she reached out with her right hand, as if to stroke the rich browny skin. She had never seen a brown so big in the weyrling barraks! He should prbably be in the rider's weyr, but there was a problem. At least, to Havinka's reasoning. He looked as if he could eat her whole, and have room for several other people. But dragons didn't eat people- at least, MOST dragons didn't. They weren't supposed to.

"What's your name?" Havinka really didn't exapct the dragon to answer- they could get picky about that.
Havinka, who are you talking to? Ith's motherly voice resonated within Havinka's skull.
Ouch! Don't do that, Ith. You know it hurts. I don't know, though. He's a big brown, the size of a bronze.
'Probably Veverith, C'lin's brown. He's the oldest dragon in the weyrling Barracks.'

Veverith. The name seemed somehow both wonderful and terribly. Without thinking seriously about the consequences, she eased off her perch, and slid down to land on her feet on the smooth stone floor of the weyr. Her runner-hide tunic was dragged up, and the rough stone wall cut through her thin shirt to leave scratches on her back.
The distance between girl and dragon was closed only by the girl. She stopped about a foot from actually touching the dragon, and tucked her right foot behind the other as she folded into a sitting position. He was perfect, the most perfect dragon she had ever seen. Once more, Havinka silently cursed herself for not being old enough to Impress, and for not taking things seriously enough for Hythe let her get a fire lizard egg.

((Never-in-the-house!))
