From what I understand, GA's decision to sign for a ninth season wasn't solely about money, although I'm sure that played a part in it. I think what she mainly wanted was more time off *THIS* year, so that she could spend more time with her daughter. (There have been a number of Scullylite eps, just among the ones that I've seen, and I've only watched about half the eps this season.) As a fan, I was disappointed by her decision, but as a mother I could understand it. Young children don't respond real well to: "Mommy is going to be very busy for the next nine months, but then I'll have lots of time off to play with you." Kids do better when they can spend several hours everyday with their parents.
While I haven't read anything about it, I would guess that DD was probably kind of peeved by the fact that, after he gave in and agreed to appear in half the eps, the eps haven't been classic Mulder/Scully style XF cases. They keep coming up with these weird matchups (Mulder/Doggett, Mulder/Reyes/Doggett, Doggett/Harrison, etc.) that don't really reflect what most fans want to see on XF.
I'm pretty sure we'll never going to get another "classic" XF ep on the TV show. CC is out to "prove" X-files is about "scary stories" and the agents who investigate them are interchangeable. I think our best hope for ever seeing Mulder and Scully working together (with minimal assistance or interference from Skinner, Doggett and God only knows who else) is for DD and GA to *BOTH* be allowed to leave the TV show and for them to allow Mulder and Scully to appear in the XF movie franchise while Doggett, et al do the TV shows.
