Ugh. It was BAD. I've been watching my XF DVDs in anticipation of this and it totally fell short of my expectations and the comparison to the episodes.

BDM pretty much summed it up perfectly, but here is my take. I understood the decisions CC & Co made regarding the plot. They couldn't make it a myth episode because for one thing, who on earth can even figure out what's going with it at this point. But it had to have elements of the shows themes, major ones being Scully's faith and Mulder chasing after his sister and the truth. So CC tried to make a MOTW that followed those lines, but it just totally fell flat.

First of all, Scully's accusation to Mulder that he was chasing his sister was awkward and out of nowhere. And she was going on and on about him going towards the "darkness" but the plot didn't show any of that at all. It just told us. And if it was something big enough for Mulder and Scully to split over, maybe do a better job showing Mulder's growing obsession or something.

I think a more ideal situation would have been for Mulder and Scully to have been off on the run together, because right, Scully aided and abetted Mulder's escape (so did Skinner), although maybe they couldn't prove it?...anyway, their off in some remote location and they stumble across some paranormal phenomenon and the two of them solve it that way.

It WAS nice to see the characters again, sort of like a family reunion. Just one that won't go down in history as the best reunion ever.

Shallow alert! Scully looked gorgeous. Her hair was perfect, her skin was perfect (although my friend said she looks like she might have hit the botox). Skinner also looked good. Mulder, on the other hand...he looked he's been rode hard and put away wet. He looked quite puffy and did he always have those jowls and that flesh toned mole on his face?
