Subject: Why I think there will be a Season 8

This could be either good news or bad news depending on your perspective and DD's decision. I'm pretty sure there will be an eighth season of "The X-Files". I base this on the fact that I have yet to see a single Fox promo hyping things like "be sure not to miss the final four episodes of a series that changed the way we look at TV" or something along those lines. If this was really going to be the end of the series, I think they'd be hyping the hell of it by this point.
*IF* DD agrees to return, an eighth season would be wonderful! However, an eighth season without Mulder (or with a different actor playing Mulder) would be worse than no eighth season at all, IMHO.
Adding to the confusion is the mixed reviews on "Return to Me". If it had been a hit, I think DD would have bolted. If it had been a flop, he would have probably been eager to reup with "XF". Instead it's sort of middling. (I haven't seen it yet. I'm just going by the reviews I've read.) Nobody seems to think that "RtM" is going to put DD in the Harrison Ford/Tom Cruise movie star category. But everybody seems to think it's pretty good (much better than his last non-XF movie, "Playing God") and that he could have some sort of career apart from "XF".
