...KS's phone rings again.

"Geez, you really ought to get your hearing checked. Do you know how loud your phone is?" Kande asks politely.

"What?" KS digs her phone out of her assassin tool belt. "Hello? Hello? HELLO?"

Kande goes behind the bar to get away from her sister, who has yet to master the nuances and etiquette of cell phone use. Bubba has a towel wrapped around his head to muffle the screaming.

"You what? Uh-huh. And it hurts where? Do you have a fever? Is there any blood and, if so, is it yours?" KS goes through her 'PC1 injury/illness' checklist for the umpteenth time. "Ok, well, let me check. I'll call you right back." KS fumbles to hang up the phone. As soon as she does, it rings again.

"Hello? Hello? HELLO? What? I said I'll call you back! I haven't even asked yet." This time she decides to talk and hang up the phone at the same time. It isn't pretty.

"So...um...," she stutters in Kande's direction. "PC1 isn't feeling well again. She'd like me to come get her. Can we do that?"

Kande looks at Bubba, who refuses to meet her eye. He is NOT driving KS again. Not after the last time, when she put a hole in the floor by stomping on the invisible brake pedal. Honestly, what does she need boots with steel heels for anyway? Besides, he wasn't going anywhere near the speed limit. Sheesh. Humans are weird.

Kande sighs. "Of course we can. Where is she today?"

"Canada."

"Can you be more specific? Canada is kinda big."

"Vancouver, I think. Let me check the schedule." KS digs in her utility belt for the conference schedule. While digging, her phone rings again. "Hello? Hello? HELLO?"

While KS deals with her first-born, Kande gulps. Vancouver? PC1 is in Vancouver? That can mean only one thing, and it can't be good.
