Shipper musings on the new XF movie (SPOILERS!)

I have to say that, as a shipper, I have mixed feelings about the (apparently) final outcome of the MSR.
Yes, I'm glad that Mulder and Scully ended up "together" in the romantic sense of the word. But I'm disappointed that they are only "in a relationship" rather than actually married, primarily because this conflicts with Scully's re-embracing of her Catholic faith (which was an element in the last few seasons of the show and a *major* element in the second movie).
Also, I have to say I feel kind of cheated that we never � not in nine season of the TV show or two theatrical movies � got an actual, full-blown love scene between Mulder and Scully.
Yes, I realize the show ran on network TV and both movies were rated PG-13, so that weren't going to see anything like the scenes of a multitude of fanfics (mine included) actually acted out. But, c'mon! You can show a LOT more on network TV or a PG-13 movie than we ever saw between Mulder and Scully.
They essentially went from flirtatious co-workers (during the show and first movie) to, for all practical purposes, an "old married couple" (except for the fact that they weren't actually married) during the second movie. We never got to see a full flowering of all that simmering passion between the two of them!
Even though I was a shipper, I did kinda/sorta understand the rationale between not actually allowing the MSR to move from UST to an actual sexual relationship during the course of the show. But once they made it obvious that MSR are involved. . .I think they could have shown us a bit more than the two of them simply lying beside each other in bed.
