Kande asks delicately.

KS leans in to whisper in her ear. "The official buzz is that the money goes into the Mayor's campaign chest." She straightens for a moment and adjusts the hose. She frowns. "Not that anyone would show up if that were true."

"Yeah, so?" Kande is getting impatient. She glances back at the growing crowd in the Klub. She needs to get back in there and make sure Bubba isn't giving away drinks for free, which he has a tendency to do whenever somebody rubs his bald head. She suspects the head-rubbing is sexual for him, but the "Guide to Alien Likes and Dislikes" has prudishly avoided the subject of sex.

"So, the money goes towards the purchase of my new car. And books for the library too, of course." KS gestures lovingly towards the sage green Kia Van sitting behind the Klub. "JD's big truck blew a transmission, so I bought this for him. It has plenty of space for groceries and cleaning supplies."

"Oh." Kande is about to go back into the Klub when she notices a large group of children dressed in cami's, white shirts, and sunglasses milling around the dunk tanks. Some are testing the water level, another is mixing cement, and yet more are mounding baseballs into a pile for throwing. "Who are those kids?"

KS smiles and waves at the kids. "That's the Young Librarian's group I've been mentoring."

Kande is deeply suspicious. "So why are they dressed like assassins?"

"Because it never hurts to prepare for two careers."
