KS hands out long, looping sheets of paper to the whole gang. CW gets out her half-glasses and begins reading:

"May Sarton's Selected Letters books, bookcase, gardening gloves...hey, I didn't know Kande gardened."

"Er, yes, yes she does," KS reassures CW. "She has mostly cactus in her backyard and poison oak, that's why she needs the gloves."

"I thought you had the one patch of poison oak in town for your nefarious deeds," KM says, eyeing KS thoughtfully.

"Ha, ha! One of my nefarious deeds was to plant poison oak in Kande's backyard," KS wipes a bead of sweat off her chin. This isn't going as smoothly as she had planned. Darned suspicious people.

"Yes, that sounds like something you would do," SMH seems satisfied with the list. She folds it into small squares. "I'm going to take the Shipperville city van and go over to Noromoville shopping. Anyone else want to come?"

The gang moves off with SMH, chattering about what they plan to get for Kande's birthday. KS calls after them, reasurring them she will set up the klub for the festivities. She starts to turn around, grinning, and runs smack into Rabid who is glaring at her with her arms crossed.

"A cross? There's a cross on Kande's list? I thought it was you who was afraid of vampires," Rabid bares her teeth, the razor sharp incisors gleaming in the light of the basketball court lights.

"Sometimes Kande likes to dress up as a nun," KS whispers. They both turn to watch Kande miss ball after ball, throw herself to the floor, and drum her heels on the ground and thrash around in a huge tantrum.

"That does seem plausible," Rabid nods. "OK, I'll have someone else get the cross. Too difficult for me to handle." She shudders and moves off after the crowd.

KS smirks and rubs her hands together. "At last! Kande's presents will be mine!"
