...Kande whips out her special events list tucked in the secret pocket in her bike shorts. At least, she tries to whip it out. The waist of the shorts are so tight that the list gets caught in the elastic. Finally, Kande rips the shredded and wrinkled list out of the pocket.

"Let's see," she looks up at the ceiling where a large net holds helium balloons. She puts a little check with a pen that she also wrestles out of the secret pocket. She tugs on a cord next to the bar which drops down a series of signs. "Not 'congratulations.' Not 'It's sluglets!' There! 'Welcome Important People' ought to satisfy their egos."

She bangs on the bar in code and Bubba starts hurrying out with pretzels and peanuts in bowls. Kande scurries over and checks out the diet rootbeer levels. Satisfied, she goes into the kitchen to take a look at the cake of the day. Each day, Kande has Bubba bake a cake in case there's any special events that needs to be commemorated. Lots of times the Mayor will announce something that needs a celebration and it's in the tax code that Kande have a cake on hand. When there are no celebrations scheduled, Kande and Bubba eat the cake. Hence, the too tight bike shorts. Today's cake is white confetti with chocolate icing.

"Now, there's one more thing on this list, but I can't read it," Kande puzzles over the tiny scrap of paper in her hand. She remembers too late she can't read shorthand. "Gt rd KS. What did I mean by that?" Kande scratches her head. The Dancing Dana's come over to help her, but they're too distracting and Kande has to motion them away. A loud rumble of footsteps can be heard in the distance.

"Places everyone!" Kande hollers out. Bubba races to his little room beneath the stairs to watch the fun through his peephole. "Guess I'll have to figure out my code later."
