AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGHHHH!!

I typed a really lengthy response, but then Voyforums crashed on me!! *insert many swear words here*

*sigh*

Anyway, here is the short-short and super-simplified version...

* Although I agree that the US is the most dominant superpower in the world, it is by no means the ONLY superpower in the world.
* Japan is definitely an economic superpower. World's 2nd richest country with the world's largest stock exchange. America's largest trading partner. You don't have to be a military superpower to be a world superpower. Otherwise, I would have specified "military superpower." But no, the word we're discussing is 'superpower' which can be defined in terms of either economic and/or military power and influence (ya know, I didn't quote the English dictionary in my last post to have it ignored).
* During the Cold War, there were two Communist Superpowers - the USSR and China. Today, China stands as the world's last Communist superpower. It has the world's largest army -- and I'm talking effing large here, and is enjoying the world's fastest rate of economic growth and prosperity. Part of this is due to their increasing rate of foreign investment within their borders. Foreign investment from offshore companies has bolstered the Chinese economy immensely -- in contrast, the utter LACK of foreign investment in Japan has contributed to its decade-long recession.

No, Japan and China's economies are not as large as the States', and China's army is not as technologically advanced. Yes, the United States is a more dominant world superpower, but it is not the only superpower.

As mentioned before, the English dictionary defines "superpower" as "A powerful and influential nation".
Yes, the US is the most powerful and the most influential nation in the world at the moment (remember that about a century ago, it was Great Britain who dominated world politics), but it is not the ONLY powerful and influential nation in the world.

To say otherwise would be like the tallest man in the world saying that he's the only tall person in the world.
