Lance just shook his head and sighed. 'Look what kindness gets you,' one side of his mind thought. The other half just said, 'shut up! You've got work to do.'

"Yeah yeah..." Lance mumbled. He took one look at Zara's locked door, sighed again, and walked down to his trucks.

'Why did you tell her about your past?' voice one asked.

'Because I thought it'd help.' the second voice answered.

'Well it didn't, so what are you doing now?'

'I'm going to do what I came to do. It doesn't matter if she want's me here or not. I've got no where else to go.'

'What do you mean no where else to go? You've got a few good patents making you money! You've got your shop.'

Lance stopped in mid-thought. Was that all he had? Was it really everything? He thought hard for a few minetes then shook his head, 'That's it then. That's why I'm helping her. I don't have anyone in my life. I need that void filled, and she'll do.'

Lance chuckled, 'figures,' he thought, 'I'd fall for a psycopathic killer who could snap my neck in one moment or jump my bones in another.'

Lance got a real good laugh at that one as he opened the back of the first truck and went to work installing gadgets.
