In reply to: 's message, "Grade Exams" on 10:42:37 12/19/24 Thu

My dancer started to take them when she was 9. She had stalled in grades and it helped to give her other goals. Now she's in OC and working on skills for grades 9 and 10 this summer.

I would check with your TC, but ours encouraged my dancer to start the exams. My dancer wants to get her TC, and this is part of the process. Now, further into the exams, she's choreographing steps on her own and helping teacher with the younger dancers.

The process is laid out in the grades syllabus, but there are 12 grades exams that dancers must take and pass before they can sit their TCRG exams. Each exam builds to a new level of dance, starting with the more basic steps and then building to non-trad sets and more complicated ceilis.
