If you get something about Ryan Seacrest try reloading the page. I hope it still comes up for you when you try the page (it was showing up as of Tues, Feb. 3rd at 4:50 pm PST).

LOL.

Admittedly, I was a little surprised when the breast made its appearance, but somehow all the uproar related to it seems a bit silly to me. We must seem like the biggest prudes to the rest of the world (well, probably not in the Middle East... but still).

and I find the brouhaha ridiculous...here in the UK breasts on TV is an every day thing!

That she wasn't so much offended by the breast (although she did think it inappropriate for "family entertainment" hours) as by the implied violence of the performance, specifically the message that tearing women's clothes off was a good thing.

[> You know... -- Kuzibah, 08:59:06 02/04/04 Wed (12.175.117.195)

I think a bare breast was one of the less offensive moments of the broadcast. For instance, it offended me that they exploited the anniversary of the Columbia tragedy in such a schmaltzy and cheezy way (seriously, a fake astronaut on a fake moon? Give me a break.) I was offended by Nelly's crotch-grabbing. I was offended that P. Diddy and Kid Rock sanitised their lyrics (look, MTV, you hired them. If you didn't want them in all their misogyistic, violent, foul-mouthed glory, why didn't you hire Moby or somebody?) I was offended that Kid Rock literally wrapped himself in the flag, and turned his "Pimp Anthem" (a song I have to admit I kind of like) into a redneck jingo-fest. I was offended by the bumping and grinding. I was offended by the appropriation of 'A Clockwork Orange' as a light entertainment. I was offended by the half-naked dancers on the fetish-gear, like harnesses and collars are acceptable street-wear.

I was offended that CBS refused to air an ad that criticized the Bush administration and an ad from PETA under the guise of "non-issue" commercials only, and then proceeded to air multiple ads for Partnership for a Drug-Free America, Truth.com, and other "issues." I guess conservative issues aren't really issues. Hypocrites.

I was offended that on a show supposedly watched by millions of innocent children, it was deemed acceptable to run ads for three different impotence drugs, and approximately half of the ads were for the number-one "gateway drug" in America: beer. Not only that, but several beer ads featured vulgar "humor" and sexual innuendo.

A flashed breast is just the latest natural progression of a four-decade long exercise in excess and bad taste. As a columnist for the Washington Post said yesterday, the NFL had it coming.

Thank god we're such a wise and learned bunch. ;)

Here's a corollary article on the hubbub:

Forget Nipplegate, Prepare for Ponchogate

http://tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve_main/1,1002,271|86169|1|,00.html

I don't think the media will pick up too much on this one, since they're all too busy going. "Did she show a boob? *Gasp* I can't look. Wait, this means we have a legitimate excuse to talk about boobs, boobs, boobs...."

this is ridiculous:

Nervous NBC edits 'ER' breast shot
LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Janet Jackson's revealing Super Bowl halftime moment has created fallout for "ER," with NBC removing a glimpse of an elderly patient's breast in Thursday's episode.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/TV/02/05/tv.er.breast.ap/index.html

Makes me think of Cartman jokingly exclaiming "That movie has warped my fragile little mind!". This incident has "warped their [network execs and a few others] fragile little minds", except they aren't joking.

I didn't see the broadcast. From the clips I've seen, I'd have to agree with Kuzibah's assessment.

I'd add that the more I hear some people going on about how offensive a bare breast is, the more I feel like I think it's offensive to find that so offensive. If that makes sense.

In fact, as I watched "Notting Hill" a few days ago, I found myself once again thinking how much more attractive she was than Julia Roberts - at least to me.

I'll have to set my VCR to tape it and watch it tomorrow, since tonight's "Angel" has Cordelia's return from her coma. I can't imagine how the writers will pull that one off - I'm thinking an exploding whale might be just the thing.

First the budget was too big.
Then it got shelved because nobody was interested.
Then the budget was too big.
Then nobody could do the effects they wanted.
Then the budget ws too big.

I wish they'd make up their minds. I'd like to see what a competent producer could do with it.

the bit in the paper that I saw said Mos Def (think he was in The Italian Job) had signed on to play Ford Prefect, and Zooey Deschanel (sp?) had signed on to be Trillian. But then again they might have gotten that far with the previous projects too.

Here's hoping it's done and it's done right.

He wouldn't let the only woman in the discussion get in one sentence without interrupting her while she smiled pleasantly as he spoke. He showed his complete lack of legal knowledge in his suggestions for fines for CBS and MTV. And the moderator never called him on any of it.

Stoopid MSNBC.
