This is Col who soooo sorely misses the 'good old days' when the players who literally risked their necks to generate significant enjoyment, memories and wealth for others, could by-and-large look forward to a financially bleak post-football life with limited career scope.

While I'm on the record as being in favour of SL because, in part, it provided for a benefit to players in terms of financial security, recompense for injury etc, you conveniently omit from your blatherings that I have also previously noted that I believe the pendulum-swing in terms of dollars needs to be corrected (and is occuring). Good Ol' Col - were you ever a Journalist during your football playing career? You clearly have a propensity for not letting the facts get in the way of a good story.

Given your opinion that RL is a dying game - rocking on its heels and about to hit the deck from the blows dealt it by AFL and RU - why don't you piss-off and lend your full support to those codes rather than continue to harangue us woe-begotten and ill-fated 'mungos' and 'bum-sniffers' (as your lot are wont to refer to us)?

For mine; RL is in good nick overall and last season's competition was evidence of same.

One of the many, many differences between you and I, Col, is that I don't hold with the 'if it ain't broke - don't fix it' philosophy you espouse. I favour the 'if it can be improved, let's improve it' school of thought. Were it up to the likes of you, we'd still be travelling by horse and cart! Neither would I discount or belittle the opinion of another on the premise that they may not have played the game. Your simpleton views are proof-positive that such a yardstick is seriously misconceived.

Oh, and call that a Haiku? You truly are bereft of thought and spirit, aren't you?
