Numb here; well, angry, dumbfounded, pissed, incredulous and numb. There was so much more to do with and say about Darla and A/D. This is an even bigger f**k-up than dusting her in "Angel" in Season 1 of BtVS was.

I don't believe it still, having not been prepped for it. How could such a good character be killed off? For the sake of C/A? Grrrrrrr... I will fight that ship with my last breath, as it's what the B/Sers want for him (when they're not hating him with every bit of their being).

Darla could have stayed a vampire with integrity; even once no longer under the influence of the child's soul (something Spike cannot experience, btw), I doubt that she would have tried to kill it. At worst, she would have just left or been driven off by Angel.

Loved Angel, especially the gesture where he took her hands and kissed them. If he could do that for Darla, what should Spike be able to do for Dru?

No, this sucks. There was so much more to be explored in the present day, i.e. A/D as individuals, as parents, as possible lovers again. Bad, awful, heartrending decision. Gradually, all the vampires are being killed off or ruined - the Master, Darla (twice), Angel (killed once and in the process of ruination), and Spike (possibly on the path to ruination). Only Dru has so far escaped these two disastrous possibilities. I think I've changed my mind on having her back; certainly, I don't want to see her back in the present day where any old mystical plot s**t can be devised to explain a calamity coming down on her head.

More reflection and wailing and gnashing of teeth. We should post at the WB board on how pissed we are. Unfortunately, I can't see them bringing her back in the present day for a third time.

Sucks to be us...
