Subject: Nationals results question - for those who do both NANs and O

This isn't a place for drama or snarkiness - so if you're feeling that, please vent somewhere else. Otherwise...

Since our DD started competing 10 years ago, we've heard from her TCRGs at 2 different schools (we moved) that they "hate/don't like" NANs. Our dancer is in Open, does fairly well at feisanna, O, GBs and AI (medaled). But when I look at one year's comp at the O and compare it to NANs for the same age group, I'm stunned at how different the scores are. I did this for two different years for comparison, and it was all over the place... (for everyone, even podium except #1 and maybe #2)

So I'm not sure about my exact question - but is the O wonky, or is NANs wonky, or is it just the nature overall of subjective scoring, "quality of dancing on that day," etc.

She'd love to do NANs but with the scoring we've seen and what we've heard, not sure I want to spend the money... or effort.

TIA (and again, I'm not looking for the whole cheat/scandal discussion - heard it, and already considered it as a possible minimal factor)
