Happy Thanksgiving old boy! We're headed to Gramma's house for a nice meal with the Fam. Hope you have a pleasant and thankful day. I'd be more thankful if it was snowing, but am indeed thankful for all I have, including friends like yourself. Now if I could get you to ski more!

My friend, you and your family are indeed a blessing to me as well! I have attached a recent Christmas message to all my friends and family who visit here. May this holiday season bring much of what you want and all of what you need!!!

To my brothers and sisters,

What a family we have! All unique and all endowed with special gifts and talents. We who call upon the Lord Jesus Christ as Master and as the first of many brothers, have much to be thankful for, not just in this season, but with every breath we take!

We can come boldly before the throne of Grace because of what He has done for us. He has done it all! Because of Him we are partakers of God's divine nature! God forbid that we ever tire of this amazing good news. We are redeemed from the curse of the law! We are the righteousness of God in Him; holy and set apart! Not because of anything we have done, but only because of what His Word says. We entered in by faith and we continue to receive from Him by this same faith that He, Himself, has birthed in us! Halleluia! He has done it all and by His great mercy and His continued grace we are the benefactors; all we have to do is continue to believe it and be receivers of His great love!

It is the season of reconciliation, of renewing our vows to Him and to each other. If I have failed you, personally, in any way over the course of this past year, I extend to you now, my heartfelt apology. I know that sometimes in my uniqueness I am not always the most Christlike. But thank God, I am being changed day by day, transformed by the renewing of my mind as I feed on the Word of God and pray for revelation of the truth about myself and about the world around me. And the Lord has revealed things about me over the course of this past year that I need to change about myself. At the same time, He is merciful and gracious and never forces His hand. Again, I thank Him that I am a work in progress, not perfected yet, but being perfected by His Word. I am hopeful that through His continued mercy and grace, I will continue to be teachable and moldable in the coming year and will grow more and more into that person that He intends for me to be; a doer of the Word.

Again, if I have offended you in any way, please accept this Christmas message as my apology. There are some that I need to apologize to in person for my many shortcomings, and some that I may be oblivious to still, but either way, I hope that you and all those you love will have a merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!

like the 20th century prophet, John Prine once said, "'you forgive me, I'll forgive you, we'll both forgive each other till we both turn blue, then we'll whistle and go fishing into heaven!"

I pray that our paths would cross in the coming year and that we all will soon be reconciled to each other as we are to the Father through His Son, Amen.

not my words, but appropriate for the season:

Thanksgiving

But one of them, seeing that he was healed, returned and, with a loud voice, gave glory to God. He fell facedown at His feet, thanking Him. And he was a Samaritan.-Luke 17:15-16

Thankfulness is foundational to the Christian life. Thankfulness is a conscious response that comes from looking beyond our blessings to their source. As Christians, we have been forgiven, saved from death, and adopted as God's children. There could be no better reason for a grateful heart!

Lepers in Jesus' day were social outcasts. Their highly contagious condition ostracized them from those they loved. When ten lepers encountered Jesus, they desperately implored Him to show them mercy. Jesus sent them to the priest. As they obeyed, they were healed! These ten men had been forbidden to enter their own villages, to live in their own homes, to work in their own jobs, or even to touch their own children. Imagine what unrestrained joy must have filled them as they ran back home again!

One of the lepers, a Samaritan, stopped and ran back to thank Jesus. Samaritans were normally shunned by the Jews, but Jesus had healed him! Jesus asked him, "Where are the others?" Ten lepers had been healed. Ten lepers were reveling in their newfound health. Ten men were joyfully rushing to share the good news with those they loved. But only one considered the Source of that blessing and stopped to thank and worship the One who had given him back his life.

We, too, have been healed and made whole by the Savior. We are free to enjoy the abundant life the Savior has graciously given us. Could we, like the nine lepers, rush off so quickly to glory in our blessings without stopping to thank our Redeemer? God looks for our thanks. Our worship, prayers, service, and daily life ought to be saturated with thanksgiving to God (Phil. 4:6).

Bob, you sure know how to take the fun out of our sacred holidays. When it comes to what the truth is, concerning pretty much all of history, nothing is what it seems, or as told. Facts are boring. Sometimes, it's just best to dream.

I kinda like Thanksgiving. Be thankful/grateful for what ya got.

Sure Thing and all of that. Just lets not get carried away and tie it to some spiritual outlook. Be happy and don't tell me how to think.

I am riding my new bike in the morning. The Bob Cat tonight for a bite and a beer.

Shane spoke of Friday night at the cabin. Let see if he is still into it.

DP is home by the way.

"For God so loved the world that HE GAVE His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." - John 3:16

Giving thanks to God for what He has given is what this day (and everyday) is all about whether you acknowledge the giver or just the gift; either way you are blessed to be alive and breathing. Being thankful for what we have is so much better than the alternative. And for those who are not too proud to accept this free gift of Salvation that is available to all through our Lord and Savior, Jesus of Nazareth, we have the everlasting part to enjoy from now until this life comes to a close...Thanks be to God!

Too Proud? How about informed and thinking enough to realize its folklore.

10 to the 21 is one estimate of the number of stars in the universe. That is more then there are grains of sand on earth. If each star had just one planet (ours has 8 or so) it would mean a lot of planets. 1000000000000000000000 is a really big number. There is likely life on some fraction of those. Probably more then one.

Be thankful, relax and enjoy your self. Stop attaching strings to everything. Can't it all just be?

You like to link the vastness of the universe and beyond to prove that there is no God, when in fact these statistics only make a stronger case for intelligent design.

the only 'string' as you call it is the one that attaches Genesis to Revelation; it is unbroken and there are no conditions to the promises contained therein, other than acceptance or faith in them. You can ignore this and still enjoy your life, fer sure, but you are an ostrich with your head in the sand. Wake up and smell the end of the world as we know it!

You can't escape the Truth. You can avoid it for a while, but like the plague it will eventually come to pass with or without your permission.

It is good to embrace life my friend, but it is even better to know where you are going in the process.

Happy Thanksgiving

sometimes you have to see with your heart before you can believe with your eyes. This is what it means for the blind to see. If you keep looking you will find the answer that will make you a believer too. My prayer for every doubter and unbeliever is that their spiritual eyes will be opened before they are closed in death. This is why I live.

Yea the old Third eye thing again. Some don't believe in Spirituality as in the religious explanation. IT is another unmeasurable concept that I fail to buy into. Its just a part of the imagination that I think some people pay attention to a little too much. Dreams are cool too.

Read this if your interested. I often seek information on this subject because I find it interesting what others think. I don't get all threatened by alternate ideas and will be the first to believe when the sky opens up in front of me and God speaks directly to me. Until that time I will just believe what works its way over the "real" line in my brain.

this site is not established to glorify anyones failure to believe. It is established for those who seek the WAY that leads to life everlasting and peace. There is joy unspeakable and it comes to all those who would humble themselves and submit to a Holy God.

As for the sky opening up, it will happen, as it is written and the trump of God will sound and in an instant of time the saved of earth will gather over on the other side. At that moment everyone will know that JESUS IS LORD! Meanwhile, our job as believers is to be ready, NOW, TODAY! The reason I preach this is because I want everyone I care about to be there; most importantly ME! I want to be there! And my faith grows stronger when I hear the Word of God spoken and when I fellowship with others who obey His voice.

While the outward man is perishing, the inward man can be renewed day by day by feeding the spirit. This is why it is wise to fear God and do what He says in His Word. He commands me to walk in love and to do unto others as I would have them do unto me. If I fail to do this, I can lose my place on the roster! Not good! The only way to know what I have coming for sure, is to know what it says in the will. It says I have an inheritance as a born again child of God and it is not something that I can treat lightly or throw around carelessly. I reverence it! I take it seriously and live to tell others. Through God's goodness, grace and mercy others will come into the kingdom by the word of God and our testimony, receive salvation and enjoy all the benefits.

I am thankful to God for what He has done, is doing and will do.

I invite all those who visit here to pray a simple prayer to receive the forgiveness of sins. It comes when you ASK for a personal relationship with the One who said: I am the Way the Truth and the Life and no one comes to the Father but through Me! JESUS is the answer for the world today, above Him there's no other, JESUS IS the WAY! We receive Him by a simple act of faith and then we get into His Word to find out just what this AMAZING GRACE that people sing about really is.

It is an amazing adventure that has a beginning, a middle and no end!

If you look Tim I only started to comment on this thread when you choose to align Thanksgiving with your belief structure. I simply state that you should not hijack Turkey day. That day can be enjoyed by all just like everyday without the trappings of some outdated set of folk tails. I am not looking for glorification in anyway. I simply believe we are all headed to the same place, just by different routes. You write like you are on a pedestal looking down upon the uninformed and ignorant masses who will experience the opposite of Unspeakable joy, what ever that is. As I have pointed out before your outlook is only shared by perhaps 15 or 16 percent of the world population. IT means that there are a lot of the folks you like to call unbelievers. The rooster is never going to include every one because it doesn't exist. Just like the Mormons who dug a hole in solid granite (they have one) and put all the records of all the Mormons under lock and key. This is so when the Savior comes the List (which you are not on) will be safe. So who has it correct you or the Mormon's?

Perhaps you should study all derivatives of the same theme just to be safe.

You do have the adventure part correct but it does have an end. All things must pass is pretty hard to escape.

Hell! it's not just a theological concept, bob, it's a real place where all unrepentent sinners go. The truth isn't dependent on whether YOU believe it or not, it just is. There are many who you say have chosen to believe it, but even they must fulfill the conditions in order to secure the final destination.

I wanna go up, I don't wanna go down! it's a simple choice that will in fact put me on a different level than those who cannot fulfill the conditions of that choice, which are:

Repent and believe the gospel!!

There you said it, you think you are better then other people. I caught you! Its the only reason I bother to type here. You are not better then the average Joe, you just think you are and that doesn't make it so. All men are equal and that means my out look and yours are equally meaningful so get off your soap box and stop making crow noises before someone shots you.

ah, but this IS MY soapbox afterall, so if you choose to visit here, you will be subject to my dictates. I am going up, which indeed will put me on a higher plane than those who choose to live lower. But alas, this is only relevant to the ones, like I have said before, who WANT to live higher, who WANT to go to heaven. The Bible says "there is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death" (Prov 14:12). I am seeking higher ground spiritually, but in the natural sense, I am no better than any other man who dwells on this earthly plane. I am subject to the same temptations that are common to all. What separates me first and foremost is a willingness to go up higher. Jesus said, "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life" (John 6:63).

All men are given the right to choose for themselves. I am not forcing anything on anyone. I am merely sharing what I have found to be true from the life giving Word. Abiding in it is what makes the common man uncommon. Life is more than what we can see and feel. There is so much more and always, always, always, there is higher ground to move towards spiritually. One day I will experience the ultimate high when my body no longer can contain my spirit. I will shed this earth suit and go to be with my LORD. Until then, I will be here to prod, to coax, to challenge, to encourage the pilgrims along this pathway to higher ground!

Up is a relative term. Once you are free of earth there is no up. I was at Higher Ground Friday night but I live in a house which is on even Higher Ground. Your Higher Ground is really only higher in your view. IT doesn't apply to anyone but you. Calling it higher is not accurate because its different but not higher then anything. The "Higher" descriptor is prejudicial. Your view is different, your way is different, its not better. I can just as easily say my view is better, more valuable, more meaningful but I don't. I just say its as valid or just as defensible. You mostly miss my point. Believe what ever you want but stop looking down on folks who decide to figure out things with all the knowledge gained instead of using a 2000 year old text to guide your activities.

look at what you are saying, my brother...you are saying that the way I am going is not better than the way that you are going. At the same time you are saying that the way you are going is not better than the way I am going.

One of us is confused! I am saying that there IS a better way and I am going that way; and yes, going that way makes me a better person. If I am wrong about this better way then you have lost nothing. But, if you are wrong and I am right you have lost everything! That is what the wise king was saying when he wrote the proverb quoted above; there is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

I am saying that if you choose the way that leads to life you will find the way to higher ground that every man, woman and child is in search of; it's the place that every soul is looking for. The place that even John Lennon wrote about. The place is LOVE. It is in that higher place where we can live free from fear; free from bondage and free from sin's chokehold, but there is a requirement at the door. we must give up something to gain entry. We must surrender our life and exchange it for another. We enter through a narrow gate. The gate is JESUS! We take on His life and His sacrifice for sin in exchange for our own. There is no other way!

Happy Thanksgiving!

No other way for you Tim. You see life though a different lens. If you are wrong all you loose is the time you devoted. If I am wrong and you are right I will still get in because all Sin is forgiven (Yea Baby). Its not like I am a menace to society or anything. I probably paid 10 times the Taxes you have. Those taxes support a lot of people so in a way I should be higher on the list then you. I am more generous and more productive in terms of earning income and sharing it with others. What makes you so holy anyway? Talk is cheap. You are never going to gain any traction insisting your a better person simply because you follow Jesus. A lot of total Assholes have waved that flag. My wife's cousin castrated himself for Jesus.

I don't have to surrender anything, I have nothing to be ashamed for.

I can be thankful for all the things I have without the need of invisible friends

You cannot have your sins forgiven until you acknowledge them. There is no degree of sin that is worse or better than another person; sin is sin and must be forsaken! it is all forgivable, however, there is one sin that will keep you from ever receiving forgiveness and entering heaven when you die and that is if you continue to blaspheme the Holy Spirit and declare that there is no God and no Savior. God is full of compassion and has mercy on the sinner, but the sinner must repent and call out to God and ask for mercy and forgiveness for his sins. Do not wait! Today is the day of Salvation! Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand!

Delusions persist in the minds of many many people. I would be happy to acknowledge the existence of a higher power when I see some reason to. Currently all I see is Tim barking at me and a huge history of mis-deeds in the name of such a thing. You can't be Thankful (the original point) unless you do what I say (F that)

Acknowledge what sins Tim? What have I to be ashamed for? Where is the grade book, I want to see it? Oh yea you can't because God keeps it. A chapter for everyone everywhere on all worlds in the entire universe which has more individuals then our race has a number for. There is as much chance of that as there are 1000 Tims living on different worlds doing the same thing.

Clearly your belief structure closes your mind to the possibilities. There are huge mysteries for Man to ponder and explaining them with your book is like using Saturday morning cartoons to explain the meaning of life. I am alive and my mind thinks. I see no reason to limit nature with the fear you preach.

Thanks but no thanks

the 'grade book' as you call it is the Book of the Law. If you think you can keep it without the blood of Christ to cover you than you are the one deluded. Many are of this same delusion; who me? You are not alone in the way that you think. But the offer of Freedom through Christ's shed blood will keep marching into eternity. I may give up on you, but God will never give up on you! As long as there is breath there is hope for everyone!

An Eskimo met a Missionary in Alaska 200 years ago. During the Missionaries dissertation the Eskimo stopped the Missionary and asked a simple question. He said if I had never heard of the word of Christ would I just be doomed to Hell? The missionary had to stop and think for he was dammed if he answered one way and he was dammed if he answered the other.

Tim you are a a very strange man if you think I need Blood on me to be oK.

I am a good person and I need not be inducted into the Army of God.

Thanks but no thanks

Hey on and up beat note. You should go to the Cabin this weekend. I think Joe and Shane are going. 45 minute walk and your there. Bring a sled and slide down. Get Jon Boy to go.

sorry bob, you are already enlisted!

You have been to the Tim O'Rourke Forum so you can't say you have not been introduced to the Word of God. You can no longer claim ignorance on the subject. Like the eskimo you are asking about going to hell; you don't want to go to hell, you want to go to heaven! Heaven is better but you need to be introduced to the Savior. In order to make the decision you must know the question. Ignorance is only bliss until you find out that hell is at the end of the road!! don't exit that way, there is a better way! this is what the missionary is bringing! a better way! why continue in darkness simply because you choose to keep your eyes closed? Open your eyes and allow yourself to get used to the light, you too will see that it is a better way to walk!

So you want me to go and preach to joe and shane? That makes you an evangelist! you want to bring others to the light!

Yea go preach to Joe and Shane. They will likely toss you out on your head. I just thought you should go to the cabin because a great place. No entry fee, no rules, no fear. Its an hour drive and a 45 minute walk. Insurmountable its not. All you need is a sleeping bag and some food. Snow shoes would be good or skis. I have both here but will be in PA so I can't go.

I don't buy the word of God Tim. I know what you say and don't believe it. Calling me a sinner because you are unconvincing is silly. Get better or shut up.
