They herd her into a small indoor ring, where she will be able to get used to a human environment without being enclosed in a stall, but also with decreased risk of escape. After the company gently pulls the mare to a stop, John slides off his mount and walks carefully towards her, holding out empty hands in a nonthreatening way. He cautiously grabs the ropes around her neck and lifts them off, then backs away quickly. With a few words, he sends a stable hand to care for his horse.
