After reading Doug's & Peter's preceding comments, I went out in the backyard and did a little experimentation.

I tried a slow backswing and a relatively slow downswing until the 6/100's position. At that point, I would DRIVE the club with my right arm (the same as Shawn's martial arts release, on Academy Live). The ball (er... whiffle ball) really took off!

What a world of difference! It's easy to get your elbow in front of your hip and to get to the 6/100's position with more angle when you're not swinging all out from the top.

Okay, so obviously if I think I'm starting to get IT, I must be mistaken. Please enlighten me.
