Subject: Natural remedies

I have come down with a nasty sore throat and congestion. I am trying to resist taking something over-the-counter bc I have read that suppressing symtpoms can lengthen recovery time. Any suggestions? I have taken some zinc, but I not sure what that does after symtpoms occur.
