But what I am concerned about is the lack of "Canadian content" here. I'm just sayin our winner is of Russian heritage, picked by a Nicaraguan(-Canadian) director, and trained by Venezuelan and Colombian professionals. Typically latin american countries have more 'wins' and have more coaches, training, etc. I agree, there are services in Canada but ultimatley its not about Canada as much as it is about the crown. MUC doesnt promise any Canadian content, the titleholders do more appearances in other countries than in Canada and after the MU they pretty much are invisible. Is it right or fair? Who is to say....everyone in Canada will still be cheering for 'Miss Canada' come MU Maybe if Canada as a country sponsored teh pageant or gave funding to the winner like a lot of the other countries they would utilize more of Canada's resources but for now, as long as MUC is MUC we will continue to see this pattern....but at least we have winners, finalists and semi-finalists, more so than we have ever had with any other organization. I'm merely questioning if sending our girls to Latin America for training and polishing is necessary. I dunno, maybe it's cheaper to get everything done down there? Whatever the reason is, it's not necessarily more effective. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the last 7 years (8 this year) that MUC has held the MU franchise, they've produced 1 winner (2005) and 2 semifinalists (2003, 2006). The Canadian Search for Miss Universe (CSMU), on the other hand, for 8 years between 1995 and 2002, produced 2 finalists (1995, 2000) and 1 semifinalist (2002). All 3 girls in the latter group were prepared locally. Take MWC as an example, as well.... Backlashing Denis is pointless you might as well backlash practically every national director of MU level... have you researched any of the beauty queen in Venezuela for example?? Having surgery takes time and planning w/ a surgeon, and lots of additional time to recover. The question he asked you in the interview is a very generic pageant question that every pageant asks. Its to discover if you can answer a poltically charged question eloquently and w/o offending anyone. Think "Carrie Prejean" at Miss USA.
