(He crossed his ankles as he sat on the railing, looking down at his bare feet and wondering what in the hell had possessed him to come outside without socks. He heard the dog whine and quietly wondered if she was happy where she was.. did the boyfriend, dog and home make her happy? Happy in the way that he couldn't make her?
