We do have a rep in the Chicago area, but I believe she has other breeds as well. You can email her, go to our website (www.crest-care.net) and then to the members page, her name is Roxanne and she's the Coordinator for District 7. I know she is on a cruise right now so may need to wait 10 days or so.

As for fostering, you would have to apply and be approved to be a rep for us before fostering one of our dogs is permitted. Unfortunately, there's no way to know how long a dog will be with you, some move as fast as a couple of weeks, but then I have one that's been here more than a year (wonderful dog...his drawback for most is that he's a peeing machine).

I'm surprised that your husband is not allergic to the ferret, most people (myself included) with canine & feline allergies are highly allergic to ferrets as well. Most do fine with birds and other small animals but, again, it is very dog dependent. Some have a very high prey drive (they were bred to be used as ratters on ships), others could really give rat's behind :o)

Another thing you could consider doing is attending a dog show specifically to meet/greet Cresteds.
