Subject: QOTD For Saturday, June 25th 2022:

The following quotation is taken from Dragonfly In Amber by Diana Gabaldon. Copyright 1992 All Rights Reserved. Chapter 47, Loose Ends:

"There are words in it," she said wonderingly. "I never realized that he'd ... Oh, dear God." Her voice broke, and the ring slipped from her fingers, rattling on the table with a tiny metal chime. Rodger hurriedly scooped it up, but she had turned away, fist held tight against her middle. He knew she didn't want him to see her face; the control she had kept through the long hours of the day and the scene with Brianna had deserted her now.

He stood for a minute, feeling unbearably awkward and out of place. With a terrible feeling that he was violating a privacy that ran deeper than anything he had ever known, but not knowing what else to do, he lifted the tiny metal circle to the light and read the words inside.

" Da mi basia mille... " But it was Claire's voice that spoke the words, not his. Her voice was shaky, and he could tell that she was crying, but it was coming back under her control. She couldn't let go for long; the power of what she held leashed could so easily destroy her.

[> So sorry I was late today! I meant to post last night but things got away from me. This book, Dragonfly, holds a special place in my heart; that's why I chose it for my week. I started with this book instead of Outlander, purely by accident, I picked it up off the end table by the door of my mom's old boyfriend's apartment when I was home sick one day and I haven't stopped reading the books since. I really disliked that particular boyfriend so to have to thank him for introducing all of this into my life hurts just a little *g*, but I'm grateful. Thank you for reading my posts this week! Wishing you a great week ahead. -- Cait, Sat, June 25 2022, 10:36:40

[> [> Thanks for a great week of quotes - and fighting the parrots. Lol. Dragonfly is one of my favorites too. This is one of so many heart wrenching moments in this book. The beginning and the ending killed me. One time I did a reread while we were on a shore vacation. The whole week was stormy and gloomy and I sat in the wind and read DIA and cried…….. I feel this book too, Cait. -- Kathy in PA, Sun, June 26 2022, 16:24:45
