Jenny the dog gripping an arm once and not regripping it has nothing to do with style but everything to do with function. This method has been the method of choice by all major military and or police forces such as the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and all American military forces whose dogs are taught this (grip once) method at Langley Air Force Base, therefore there must be a damn good reason, and it is this. A K-9 dog is part of a team and its job is not to disarm but to hold the criminal and or terrorist until the rest of its team arrives in order to disarm him or her. Moreover letting go of its grip for any reason for any length of time, or biting at the end of the arm may give the perpetrator time to escape or do damage it could otherwise do if the dog was latched on to the arm. During training a dog being able to hold on no matter what helps identify correct character and fighting temperament in that a dog letting go might be because it can’t hold up when the shit hits the fan.
