Subject: So what is the BB criteria for Breeding Boerboels now?

Hi all,
I would like to thank all the comments/responses regarding my last message subject "Sports for breeding purposes". I was very curious to hear how people felt about the use of a "dog sport" to help determine the correct traits in respects to their particular breeding criteria's. Politics seems to find itself involved in most if not all dog organization but that has to do more with the people and not with the dogs themselves. When we discuss the function of a Boerboel it seems to revolved around an all purpose application, so my questions is how does one identify those characteristics to then determine breed worthiness? For example, with APBT's one might say in the past it was pretty straight forward, dogs are allowed to fight for a time while breeders looked on and determined the abilities, strengths and weaknesses, whether it was a hard bitter, good wrestler, good wind , etc. Then they used the information and outcome of that fight or fights to determine who was bred and to whom they were bred to. Does something exist to determine the abilities of an Boerboel so that one may have some sort of reference or template to allow sound decision making with his or hers breeding stock? Also what is considered over the top when it comes to drive? How is balance determined?
