The Syllabus for Nationals was absolutely not clear. If it was clear, why would so many people have asked questions about whether a dancer who fit the Adult Championship definition as well as the Advanced Adult definition had the option to choose which comp to dance in? And if it is accurate that some teachers asked the Committee directly why didn’t the Committee then clarify the rule for all when they became aware that the language was not clear. They took the opportunity to clarify the teams rule. They should have also clarified the solo rule at that time. A literal reading of the Syllabus could absolutely be interpreted as permitting a dancer who had been retired for 5 years to dance in the Adult Championship. If the Syllabus was intended to be mean that you could not dance in Adult Championship if you also met the definition of Advanced Adult then it should have said that.
