What was the best part of the shindigs and soirees for you? Seeing how much everyone had changed? Seeing how little everyone had changed? Chuckling at the newspaper clippings archive? Chowing down on the food? Grooving to Charlie's band? Watching the old film of the half-time show after having imbibed a few (or more) beverages?

For our friends who couldn't make it to the April reunion, what would you tell them if they're on the fence about whether or not to attend the upcoming one?

SEEIN everyone, of course! We can always eat (if you get there early enough) but this was a time I did NOT want to miss, seeing old friends I might never get to see again!!!

BIG THRILLS for me: Seeing Susan Pittman, my first girlfriend and first girl I ever kissed, (the day after 8th grade!!!!) and also seeing my old neighbor Denise Wernette, whom I tortured repeatedly through the years. She lived right across the street from me and up two houses, and it was GREAT to see her, and that she held no grudges and didnt try to throw me in the pool Sat. night.

Seeing Mike Swim after all these years was another treasured moment. All of us drummers from the 70s had such a bond back then, and it was still felt 27 years later!!!

Teaching Robin how to REALLY paradiddle, very VERY late Sat. night in the condo. Wait, that was only a dream, dangit.

Other fun extra curricular activities with old band mates: playin at Brad's, jammin and recording, throwin darts with the Valentine gang, goofin around with Mike Groves, and I REALLY enjoyed the BEAUTIFUL drive from S.A. to the tennis ranch.... a LOVELY evening, gorgeous scenery, bluebonnets, hills, it was a WONDERFUL weekend capped by a great night in the Texas Hill Country.

What was the best part?

To be real honest, it was all the best.

Friday night , I will admit I was a little apprehensive...and very self-conscience. Saturday night I went with great anticipation, not knowing for sure who I would see, hoping that certian people would be there, and left that night so elevated(not from the beverages!)that the drive home seemed nothing more than a blink of the eye. It was great to see everyone, although I still had a tendency to see them with a mindset and eyes that seemed 27 years younger. Although many of us had changed in appearance, none that I spoke with had changed in spirit, and all seemed to share a bond that worked like a magical time machine and took us back to those remarkable, memorable times.
After the reunion,in time of "reflection", I realized that despite the things in my life that didn't go as planned, lost loves, failed marriage, and all the things that each of us have passed thru in life, we were all, and still are, extremely lucky. To have been a part of something that each and every one can look back on and call a success in life, whether it be one of many successes, or a brief shining moment, is something few can have.
As far as those still on the fence about October I say this... It is good to relive old and pleasant memories with those that are a part of them....It is good to be with people you loved then, and in a special way, still love, and it is good to be able to share life with those that were an important part of what help mold that life for that time when we were most impressionable.
