• Instead of complaining about a couple of quid being added by mistake, people should be asking why there isn’t a significant meat pie tax already. Given the devastating impact of meat consumption on the climate, not to mention the strain unhealthy diets put on the NHS, it’s frankly irresponsible that pies aren’t taxed more.     • Are you saying the £2 extra was legitimate. Buying the beer and pie separately totalled £10 or buying them together costs £12? Is that how it's supposed to work? • I've had similar, both pre- and post-match, when advertised offers haven't been applied at the till. Every time the caterers have blamed "the system". It's happened so often that I can only assume that the caterers (who I assume are a third party) are profit skimming. So I won't get any food or drink at the ground now because they're pisstakers.     • I reckon that lets the caterers off the hook for their apparently systemic scamming. Easy as anything to keep your front line staff in the dark (and take all the flak) while management and techies fix the system behind the scenes. As I say, I don't trust them after my experience, and yours suggests it still goes on and they just change their methods.           • Its actually fraudulent on their part when they told me the extra was VAT. I'm only buying a beer there from now on and always checking what they charge me first.           • I don't spend much in there anyway so dont have the specific experience, but I really dont think it's a sub contractor on the take, its bonkers to do that because they'd be openly risking their own contact! flagrantly in front of their client!             • A one-off and I'd agree with you. This is a pattern of behaviour now, hence my distrust. People and organisations do this when they spot a loophole they can exploit and keep going until they're called out on it, at which point they act all innocent. Seen it loads of times. I've mentioned FFC oversight further up...assuming anything is in place to keep an eye on them then it isn't enough.               • Thinking to about it I doubt the money go to the contractors at the point of sale, it goes to the club and they pay the contractors.                 • Well, that all depends on the contract (does the contractor get a % of sales?) and how are sales reported (by value or volume; easy to fiddle the latter and pocket any excess without reporting it)? I haven't lost out personally, I just told them to sort themselves out and walked away without buying anything.                     • Ineptitude doesn't continuously get basic maths wrong at the point of sale over several months. It might in the first instance, but you'd expect that would be sorted after multiple customer complaints. That they haven't fixed it - as evidenced in this thread - suggests this can't be pinned on incompetence. They've had plenty of chance to stop charging above the advertised rates and haven't. So they've lost my business forever.
