Subject: Well...if energy is everywhere...what about the force

Star Wars is more like Lord of the Rings in that it is just supposed to be archetypical and mythology based. yes it's more childish and topical, but are fairy tales parody and jokes all the time?

But you say energy is all around us...does it bind us? Penetrate us? Bring the galaxy together? You got the force buddy. How can you deny that.

Okay, the transporter in Star Trek is NOT just a matter of a computer holding data. It requires the energy to disassemble and object and then reesemble it at a new location exactly in exactly the same configuration. That requires not only an incredible amount of precision but an incredible amount of energy. I remember reading an article about the science of Star Trek that said something like it would take energy somewhere on the magnitude of twenty suns or something to do that to one object. And then to have the energy source be as small as it is on Star Trek...not going to happen in the near future my friend. Not at all. and you want to bake your noodle some more? If your body is completely destroyed, brain and all, and then put back together again, are you still the same person you were before it was destroyed?

Ok. So basically you are negating any kind of interstellar space travel that is either faster than light, or doesn't require that one feel relativistic effects of time. But you have the suspension of disbelief to affirm mutatated humans swimming in tanks of narcotic gas that expand their minds enough to travel between stars...hmmm oookay. you have no problem believing in giant sandworms crawling onto a guy's skin to create a "stillsuit" of wormy things.
Can I disprove that those things will never exist...no.
But I can't prove it either. Hence it doesn't make it any truer than huamns being able to tap into a "force", a living energy field because they have a sub-cellular organism called midichlorians living in their bodies.

Also, to get back to Dune... having interstellar travel in the Butlerian Jihad doesn't facilitate an Imperium, it DOESN't make Dune any crappier because like I said, it's about relationships. And it doesn't negate the power of the Spice in the classic novels.
With your thinking you would never be able to enjoy a Sci-Fi movie because in practically everyone, there is sound in space...guess what...there is no sound in space in reality. But most sci-fi movies wouldn't be as good with out the sound.

I think you need to lighten up and accept the Space travel because basically, the classic Dune novels is just as unbelievable scientifically as the new ones.
