The demands were actaully mangement's
objectives. My interpretations were
meant to be humorous but the Boss didn't
think it funny. Look at those objectives
again. Management wants to improve
productivity. That means eliminate jobs
and/or make us work harder. They have
already eliminated a third of our
workers at Coopersville. They want to
improve productivity by taking away your
job prefernce rights or your freedom to
use PAAs without pre-approval, among
other things. The local contract is
important. Retaining classifications and
lines of demarcation helps preserve jobs
and allow more people to be off for
vacation during prime times. Management
wants it all. They want to control as
much of our work lives as possible. We
need to pay attention to these details.
We need to ask questions. Why are
appointed people assisting in
Bargaining? I am not attacking appointed
people. BUT, appointments must be
approved by Management. Only reps
elected by the the members should be at
the bargaining table. What are the
priorities of our Bargaing committee?
Has anyone heard? Have they asked us
what is most important? There are always
tradeoffs. I would gladly give up the
disposable toilet seat covers for a
chance to throw a pie in you know whose
face.....stay solid, and
