Subject: Dietary Laws

The dietary laws of the Old Testament were for a health reason I believe. If the dietary laws were for a purpose other than health please let me know. In those times we did not have the ability to properly process meats to ensure quality product. With todays methods pork and shell fish are raised in clean environments. So the question is -- do the dietary laws still apply?
