I hope the council, and the city manager are looking into this. There has been too many racist and unethical practices in the NFD. One person promoted was related to the Chief. Prior to these promotions, an individual was allegedly asked to step aside, as to reach someone else on the list that was more favorable, and by doing so, would be rewarded with a promotion later. It is similar to the rookie over time scandal in the PD, when superiors told rookie officers to go sick, so that more senior officers could get the overtime. To those who are reading this, all the city government has to do is an investigation into these allegations. Rest assured, improprieties will be uncovered. Despite all the advances fiscally the city has achieved, it is lacking in integrity within the fire department. You have a racist assistant chief, who at a union meeting admitted his transgressions against another member by calling him a racial epitaph. Also, thanks to the diligent workers in the department, a promotion was rightfully designated, when management tried to keep a member in a supervisory position illegally. These are just a few of the dirty laundry items that are out there. Back during the S.A.F.E.R era, a firefighter was kept on after he was separated, just so the grant wouldn't be terminated! He was paid basically for not being there. These horrible truths are but the tip of an iceberg of lies, nepotism, and corruption. Just as long as the budget stays in line, no one cares. People are in fear of retribution in the department, if you don't tow the line, you are ostracized, and labeled an outcast. Not to be promoted, or trusted due to your opinion conflicting with the departmental management. Once again, I hope this doesn't fall on deaf ears, and a proper investigation, and audit of the department is done!
