As near as we can tell from wearing ourselves out in research is we are a company of the 3rd Missouri Cavalry (dismounted). I have heard nothing about the 5th MO infantry and have found nothing to indicate any of their companies were detached. Originally we were hoping that we would find nothing at all so it could be the 5th MO, Tim Ruyle's (3rd Sgt) ancestor's unit. But we did find some info indicating that in fact the 3rd MO cav did provide a company. Danny did you find something on the 5th?

The 3rd MO Cav was moved across the river in the Spring after Pea Ridge and dismounted, with a portion remaining with Price's HQ. We got input from everybody and their brother on this and much of it is displayed on this board about 20 feet below this post.
